Rikki and Jamie met through friends so what better way for Jamie to propose then with their friends at a barbeque. Before arriving Rikki was having a bad day having had her number plates stolen but that was all forgotten when she was the last person to open the parcel in a game of Pass The Parcel and a ring was inside.
Their Matilda Bay wedding started with Jamie getting ready at his parents house and Rikki getting ready at Fraser Suites in Perth city.
I was pretty excited when Rikki and Jamie wanted to do a first look! It’s where they see each other for the first time on their wedding day before the ceremony away from their guests. It’s a special moment bursting with emotion. Often the bridal party comes too and the majority of the location portraits are done before the ceremony.
The University of Western Australia was the perfect first look location. It was close to their Matilda Bay wedding ceremony spot and there were an abundance of great wedding photo locations.
After an emotional first look we wandered around the University of Western Australia for their locations portraits before heading across to Matilda Bay for their riverside ceremony followed by a beautiful reception at Matilda Bay Restaurant.
Being a January wedding the best time to photograph at Matilda Bay was 7pm when we were all inside for the reception. Meanwhile, outside the light was amazing! So we snuck out of the reception for a few romantic couple portraits on the Matilda Bay jetty. I love having couples that make time for photos when the light is stunning. It’s always worth it.
