Frequently Asked Questions
Perth Wedding Photographer
Where are you based?
I am a wedding photographer based in Perth, Western Australia. Get to know me here.
How long have you been a wedding photographer?
I have been photographing weddings for 8 years and love it!
Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely. I love destination weddings, whether in country Australia or overseas. Travel rates vary so please ask for a travel quote with your enquiry. See recent South West weddings or Nanga Bush Camp weddings.
What’s your shooting style?
My shooting style is friendly, fun and relaxed. I’ll make you feel comfortable, guiding you and giving subtle direction to find the best light and the most flattering angle. I want you to feel relaxed so your images are truly ‘you’.
What wedding photography packages do you offer?
Can we customise a wedding photography package to suit our day?
Absolutely, you can add extras like an engagement session, second photographer, wedding album or additional coverage hours to any collection.
Do we actually need a second photographer?
No, a second photographer isn’t essential for every wedding. I photograph most weddings solo and simply adjust the timeline to capture both of you getting ready if desired. However, they are great for capturing a variety of angles throughout the day and can be added to any package.
Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes, I offer fine art wedding albums. There’s something special about being able to hold, feel and look through your wedding album.
Can we meet you before booking?
Of course. I’d love to meet you, hear your story and tell you more about how I can capture your wedding day. If you don’t live in Perth, we can chat over Skype.
How do we book you for our wedding?
Please send through an enquiry to check my availability for your wedding date. A signed agreement and retainer fee are required to secure your booking. Please note I do not hold dates. I book on a first come first serve basis provided both the signed agreement and retainer fee have been received.
How far in advance should we book you?
As early as possible. Popular months and dates book quickly!
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes. Engagement sessions capture the love, excitement and anticipation leading up to your big day. They are shot on location and include a selection of digital images. See Perth engagement shoots. Engagement shoots are a great way for us to get to know each other and for you to get used to being photographed. For more details please get in touch.
Do you believe in same sex marriage?
Yes! I am so happy all couples can now legally marry in Australia. I’ve had the honour of photographing many LGBT couples. See recent LGBT weddings and engagement sessions.
We’ve never had professional photos taken and are nervous. Does this matter?
Not at all. In fact, most people I photograph have never had professional photographs taken. It’s okay to be a little nervous. I can assure you those nerves will disappear once we start shooting. Most people end up loving the experience and having lots of fun.
Do we need to give you a shot list for the wedding day?
No. As an experienced Perth wedding photographer I’ll be ready for all the important moments. However, if there is a specific shot you would really love please let me know.
Do we need to practise for the wedding day photos?
No. Homework is not required! Just be yourself and leave the rest up to me.
Do we need to provide you with dinner at the wedding reception?
Wedding photographers get hungry too so if your coverage includes most of the reception, a meal is greatly appreciated.
What happens if it rains?
Sometimes the most inspiring wedding photos are captured on rainy days. We can find a spot undercover or if you don’t mind being a little adventurous with an umbrella, the results can be well worth it.
What is the best time of day for wedding party/couple photos?
Late afternoon to early evening is the best time for photographs because the light is softer. This is the 1.5 hours before sunset. If you’re having a summer wedding and want beautiful golden sunset light, timing these photos is essential as the sun doesn’t set until 7:30pm.
How much time should we allow for wedding party/couple location photos?
It depends how many locations you want to visit and how much travel is involved. I recommend at least 1.5 hours. I can help you plan your day in advance to make sure there’s enough time for everything.
Do you take family photos on the wedding day?
Yes. Family photos are usually done after the ceremony at the same location. Allow at least 30 minutes for your family photos. They are the images you will cherish for years to come.
Where can we see more of your work?
We are having a small wedding. Do you photograph intimate weddings?
Yes. I photograph weddings of all sizes.
Why is there so much variation in prices between Perth wedding photographers?
A Perth wedding photographer’s price reflects their experience, time invested before, during and after the wedding, the quality of products and level of service provided. Simply put, your level of investment reflects what you receive.
Do you recommend any Perth wedding vendors?
Absolutely. Weddings take a talented team! See Perth wedding vendors I recommend here.
We love your photography style but aren’t getting married. Do you offer other shoots?
Please get in touch and let me know what you have in mind.
